Altarpiece

Altarpiece began with a concept: sacred space. What does it mean to encounter the Divine, and where does it take place? This project involved research into religious iconography and renaissance style painting such as Caravaggio and Rembrandt. Special attention was paid to hand gestures and posture as they are important aspects of renaissance paintings of biblical scenes. Working within this tradition and using its language Altarpiece unpacks this lofty concept of what it means to encounter the Divine.
